Mr. Carlson has achieved an AV Martindale-Hubbell rating by his peers and judges, which is the highest designation for legal ability and ethical standards.  He was first included in Who's Who in American Law in 1987.  His biography also appears in Who's Who in America.

Since he graduated from Creighton University School of Law in 1978, Alan Carlson has devoted his law practice to advocating for people who are contending with life-changing effects of serious injuries and disabilities. This work involves dealing with insurance companies and with governmental entities in order to help his clients and their families obtain compensation they need and deserve.

Mr. Carlson is also involved in protecting the constitutional rights of individuals to enjoy religious freedom. In 2000 he was selected to participate in the Alliance Defense Fund's National Litigation Academy concerning First Amendment cases. Currently, he is involved in a local Christian Legal Aid project for the Christian Legal Society in Colorado.

In the past, Mr. Carlson has served on the speakers' bureau for the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Colorado Law School's summer course on trial advocacy.

Mr. Carlson has been an adjunct faculty member of Regis University, where he taught courses on Mediation and on employment Law. He also has taught Business & Social Ethics, Leadership & Management, and Business Law at Colorado Christian University.

Although he enjoys being a trial lawyer, Mr. Carlson is interested in promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution as well. He has been trained by the Christian Conciliation Institute and is available to serve as a mediator and arbitrator.
